A Word to Our Moms

From diapers to diplomas, our mothers have been our number one cheerleader every step of the way. For everything they do, it seems inadequate to only have one day celebrating the job they’ve taken on, yet we intend to make Mother’s Day the day to show our true love and appreciation for them. Here at XOMAD, we wanted to give our moms a shoutout and let the world know what makes our moms so special!

Nichole – I love my Mom for so many reasons that I can’t describe them all. But to start she is kind, loving, and has always been the center of the family without really making it known. Her heart truly is always growing. For any friend of my sisters or of mine, who wasn’t in a great family or had difficult life circumstances, she would adopt them and still keeps in contact with them. (She would also do this for any of her renters.) Friends of ours will come back to town 10 years later and stop by my mom’s work to tell her how much of a difference she made in their lives. My mom is always there, and always loving.

Francis – Everything I know about unconditional love I learned from her. She is patient, kind, and the most down-to-earth person I know. As the oldest child of four, I’ve been a nightmare of a guinea pig. Through it all, she continues to be supportive of my lifestyle, which to be honest, has been and always will be all over the place. Never a dull moment, but I think it prepared her for the rest of my siblings. Now that I think about it, I’m surprised she hasn’t disowned me lol. Jokes aside, she is the best Mom I could’ve asked for. For real.

Hayley – My mom is the strongest person I know. She’s kind, thoughtful and so incredibly patient it’s mind-boggling! I truly hope to live up to those strong qualities she lives out every day.

Kelly – My mom is the most selfless woman I know. She is epically kind, generous and encouraging, and there’s no way I could ever be who I am without her. She has always been my biggest supporter and I love that in this new phase of life she’s been able to really pursue her own passions and it’s been dope to be able to be the one to champion her on. I am so proud of the past Mrs. Wethersfield becoming a woman who is chasing around chickens in her yard and feeding them hot oats in the morning, of a woman who followed her art all the way to Italy, who has turned to YouTube to teach her how to change a pipe in the plumbing, who farms honey bees, and taps maple trees.

Andrew – My Mom, born and raised in Hawaii, taught me the importance of ohana/family and being a good person by spreading the aloha spirit. She was also a big advocate for learning other people’s culture and would take my brother and me on many trips around the U.S.

Fatima – I love my mom for many reasons, but the biggest reason is that she is not a regular mom. She’s a cool mom. JK, but really though, my mom is the most genuine, hardworking, loving, and selfless person I know. She is legit my best friend + I can raid her closet so you can say she is pretty cool.

Victoria – My mom is one of the greatest people I know. As a nurse, she has dedicated her life to helping others, and that shines through in everything she does. I aspire to be like her every day. She’s down to earth, thoughtful, and knows me so well that sometimes I think we have the same brain!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
