Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center partnered with XOMAD to execute a creator-led campaign that increased awareness of water recycling and conservation strategies. The campaign used trusted local messengers to educate residents and promote drought resilience across the Santa Clara Valley community.
Challenge:
With the ever-increasing challenges posed by climate change, the Santa ClaraValley Water District recognized the urgency to raise awareness about and destigmatize sustainable water management practices within the community, including the practice of recycling and purifying water. In collaboration with Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center, the district partnered with XOMAD to develop the #DroughtProof campaign to increase resident awareness of water management strategies across the Santa Clara community.
Solution:
XOMAD’s proprietary technology engine identified 93 trusted, local messengers with followings between 1,000 and 150,000 followers that could reach residents of Santa Clara Valley Water District multiple times with multiple pieces of unique content.
XOMAD deployed the messengers to deliver informational content to their followers about water conservation strategies and the safety of recycled water, with the goal of driving residents to the Santa Clara Valley Water District website.
The Results:
- 81% increase in page views compared to the start of the campaign
- 1.1M+ residents saw content posted by participating creators multiple times
- On Instagram, over 80% of the audience viewed more than 2 pieces of content from participating creators, ensuring broad exposure to the #PurifiedWater #DroughtProof messaging
The campaign demonstrated that locally trusted messengers can effectively increase awareness and engagement around environmental and water conservation initiatives.
